A CV for jobs in Mauritius should be easy to tailor without becoming inconsistent. The best method is to keep one accurate master CV and create a focused version for each application. Tailoring means selecting and ordering relevant evidence; it never means changing dates, qualifications or responsibilities to fit an advert.
Compare your evidence with the vacancy
Read the original employer advert and note the role, sector, location, required education, experience, languages, digital tools and application instructions. The official Mauritius Jobs job-seeker service provides job-search resources, and its job search can help applicants review opportunities. Always check the source advert before sending documents.
Highlight the five or six requirements most important to the role. Beside each one, write the strongest truthful example from your work, study, training or projects. Those examples should guide the order and wording of your CV.
Use a focused opening profile
Your profile should identify your professional area, experience level and relevant strengths in a few lines. Replace a generic objective with information connected to the vacancy. For a hospitality role, customer service and shift experience may lead. For an accounting role, qualifications, reconciliation and software experience may be more useful.
Keep contact details current and professional. If the vacancy requires availability in a particular district or for particular working hours, state only what is accurate. Do not reveal sensitive financial or identity information in an initial CV.
Reorder experience without rewriting history
List employers, job titles and dates consistently. Within each role, place the most relevant achievements or responsibilities first. Use clear action and context: what you handled, how you handled it and the result where measurable. Avoid long duty lists that do not help the recruiter assess the advertised role.
People with limited formal experience can include internships, placements, volunteer work, student projects or practical training. Explain the nature of the experience accurately. If an older role is unrelated, keep it brief rather than removing information in a way that creates unexplained date gaps.
Adjust the skills and education sections
Move the most relevant qualification or certification into a visible position, while preserving the correct institution and completion status. Name real tools and systems instead of broad labels. Languages should reflect your honest working level. Professional licences and registrations should be current if the job requires them.
Use a clean format that remains readable on mobile and desktop. Standard headings and simple spacing make the document easier to scan. Decorative graphics should not compete with names, dates and evidence.
Save and submit the correct version
- Name the file with your name and the job title.
- Check that the profile and first-page evidence match the vacancy.
- Confirm dates and qualifications against your master CV.
- Open the final PDF or document and test every page.
- Follow the employer’s stated email, portal and closing date exactly.
Browse current jobs in Mauritius and tailor your CV only after reading the original vacancy requirements.

Turn the checklist into a usable application
For a hospitality role in the district named in the advert, make a short evidence table before editing. Copy one requirement into the left column and your own supporting example into the right. For instance, a specific guest-service or booking-system task can be relevant if it is something you actually did. This is a planning example, not a current vacancy or a claim about an employer’s requirements.
| Advert requirement | My truthful evidence | Document to check |
|---|---|---|
| [Copy the exact requirement] | [Describe your action and context] | [CV entry, certificate or project] |
| [Copy the next requirement] | [State the actual dates or completion status] | [Relevant supporting record] |
Before sending, compare the completed table with the final CV, form and letter. Remove all sample text, check the receiving address again and keep a copy of what was submitted. A useful application is specific and consistent; it does not need to be inflated with unsupported claims.
